Friday afternoon we finally got our pumpkins trimmed and ready for Halloween. Dad and Becki did an awesome job cutting them, eh!
This is the biggest of our pumpkins from the garden.

This pumpkin grew lopsided, so we decided he must be a sleepy pumpkin. Makes you tired looking at him, eh? LOL

This is our little baby pumpkin, the littlest one of the bunch. Too cute!

How about the rest of you share some pictures of your Halloween celebrations (if any). We’d love to see ‘em!

Lauryn becomes a teenager today!

She has been a joy to our family from the minute she was born — and every minute since!
(Please pardon me if I have some of these slightly out of order.)

Lauryn, you are an AMAZING girl! Totally beautiful, inside and out. We are so proud of you!
From among the millions and billions of Heavenly Father’s children, I don’t know how we got so blessed as to have you in our family. We are so lucky!!! We love you forever, we love you for always, for now and forever, our Lauryn you’ll be! LOL
Thank you, thank you, to your mama and daddy, too, for making an awesome girl to clothe your sweet, sweet, spirit.

The second picture is the fireworks I set off on the 4th. The big brown box on the left weighed about 5 pounds… The rest of the pictures are taken at Stoddard Creek with Wheelers, Holmgrens, Hammers (Robyns parents), Aaron, and us. Little blue butterflies in the mud.
The picture of the mushroom is wonderful. This was at Stoddard Creek also and was the size of a rugby ball. It was cool. We still have fun in our old age..

The little tree is new . . . we got it to replace the Shademaster that died.

Isn’t it pretty? It will have big pink flowers.

Dad and I were talking about herbs a few weeks ago and I mentioned that I’d been thinking of starting a herb garden. I did a little bit of reading and last Friday I bought all the stuff I needed for the low low price of £24!

Cast of characters – featuring two lovely green planters, a bag of rocks, soil and the herbs

Making progress – the rocks in the bottom will build a reservoir that the plants can feed themselves from and it’ll save them from drowning in the rain

All done! I have chives, organo, rosemary, parsley, lemon basil, rocket [x2] and coriander.
I’ve watered them and the spot by the shed if perfect for catching morning/afternoon sunlight and I’ll be able to access them from the kitchen easily. I’m really excited to make my next batch of roast vegetables with my own herbs.

Aunt Teresa made me the most beautiful wall hanging . . . here’s a picture:

Isn’t it beautiful!!! I’d seen the one she did for my mother, of course, a long time ago, and last year she made one for Melissa. When I saw it I asked her for the directions so I could make one for myself, but I’ve never had time (or the inclination, really) to get one done. A few months ago I finally just asked her to make one for me. Maybe someday I’ll get enough ambition to make some for you girls. (Don’t hold your breath, though, ok. LOL)
She has them custom framed, which makes all the difference, I think. The matting is so cool . . . kind of looks like it’s woven, then has another layer in silver between it and the backing. I love it! It was absolutely perfect for me, despite my not being there to do anything more than tell her the colors I like.
I’m very, very happy to have such a beauty!

I was telling Amy this morning about our beautiful garden and how we’ve gotten tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, red onions and pumpkin (seeds) planted already . . . . early for Idaho and very, very early for us. LOL Which reminds me — yet again — how much I love speaking with Amy every week. I wish I could figure out a good time to speak with all of you on a regular basis.
All the little planties are sleeping warm and sound in their little wall-o-waters now, and hopefully they’re getting strong and ready to pop right up once we actually get some warm weather!

It might be difficult to see, but there is a pile of manure near the center . . . . Dad and Beck got it to mix in with the dirt where they were planting. This is more effective than mixing it into all the dirt, of course, because it takes a lot less this way.
Notice how much the fence folks decimated my big raspberry patch . . .
. . . hopefully it will come back in full force.
Thanks to Beck for all her help . . . she and Dad spent a good part of the day in the garden last Saturday.
We’ll all appreciate it even more when we have lots of chili sauce and taco sauce to share this fall!

The edges of the yard were starting to look bad, so I asked Dad to get a new toy . . .

Isn’t it pretty!?! LOL
He likes it. It’s fun.
My yard is prettier, so I like it.
Win-Win.
