Our New Bed

Hello!  Chris and I got our new waterbed all set up yesterday, so here’s a picture:

Waterbed

We really like it.  I woke up less in the night and when I did it was easier to fall back asleep.  Plus it’s been hot here lately so it’s nice to have the cold water in the mattress.

In case I haven’t told everyone, I was asked to be interviewed by Barry Yeoman of “O” magazine.  I’ll be in the June issue.  They’re interviewing me about my work with the Min Pin rescue (visit the rescue here: http://www.minpinhaven.com/).  Gracie was one of the most difficult cases.  Hopefully we’ll raise awareness about the atrocious treatment these puppy mill dogs receive and increase the adoptions of the rescued pets.  It’s so exciting!

Hopefully I don’t say anything stupid…:)

My Favorite Food Is…

Mashed potatoes and gravy.  That’s my favorite!

Part of what I’d like to do when everyone is here is have a buffet of our favorite foods.  Something to help us get to know what each other likes.  So, if everyone wouldn’t mind, please let me know what you like best so we can eat it!  :)

Thanks in advance, can’t wait to see you all!

Thanksgiving Stuff

Hi all.  I found a website  http://www.azcentral.com/ent/calendar/.  This lists the activities and events happening in Phoenix during the time of the visit.  I realize that most of our time will be spent watching movies, talking, and eating but just in casr you crave a little hit of something while your here, this is what’s available.

Love you all!

The Girls are at School!

Whoo Hoo!  The kids are back in school.  The first week went really well.  The weekend is reminding me how much I like them being occupied with studies and friends.  I’m way too boring to keep them entertained. :)

The weather seems like it’s getting a little better, the high was around 114.  Much better than 120!  Plus there’s a breeze.  Haleigh and I have been enjoying the nice temps in the morning (around 88-90).  I’ve been walking her to school, then driving to about a block away from the school and walking to pick her up.  I tried doing the afternoon walking thing, but my body didn’t like it.  I tried to wear my Empi machine and walk and melted all the gel off four pads.  It was so hot that the super thick gel adhesive just ran off.  I’m in the process of ordering more pads.

Lauryn rides the bus.  She complained that the bus doesn’t have air conditioning.  I think that’s insane for this area.  Lauryn smells like roasted chicken when she gets home.  Hah!

Good news for Lauryn – she won the math game at school.  The summer school we did over break really helped her catch up.  She hasn’t even required an aid as of yet, and doesn’t have to go to resource.  She’s very proud of herself.  We’re proud of her to.  She never stops working away.

Haleigh really likes her teacher.  She has a new teacher for music, and she loved telling them about her piano lessons at home.  She started with me about two weeks ago.  I have to watch her though; she likes to memorize the songs instead of counting and reading the music.  Just what I used to do.  I’ve decided that as long as she knows what the technical side of it means, how she achieves the piece isn’t as important.

Our sweet rescue dog, Gracie, is so happy.  I just wanted to share it because I adore her, and I love how she’s changed.  She actually climbed up onto my lap while I was watching TV and stayed there, sleepy eyed while I pet her back and head.  This is exactly what I’d hoped would happen.  She’s so resilient!  Miles is just as cute as ever.  His new nickname is Rublesford Dooblestein.  He likes it.  Gracie’s nickname is Gracie Goo-Goo Pants.  Chris has started calling her Goo-Goo Gai Pants.  We love our pets.

Can’t wait to see you all in November!  Love you!
