The fence is done! Finally, we’re finished!

We ended up having to have a few ‘words’ (nice ones, mostly  LOL) with the fence folks, but Thursday they came over and did it up right!  Here’s the results:

Dad’s thrilled, I’m thrilled, everybody’s happy!  (I don’t know how the fence man feels for sure, but I am sure he’s glad to have us out of his hair!)  And the best part . . . the benches . . . a la Amy.  THANK YOU for coming up with this great compromise.  It made all the difference.  :D

And just in time, too . . . it’s supposed to snow up to 6″ tomorrow.  *sigh*  Ah well, that’ll teach us to enjoy our week of fall more.  LOL

Time to start planning . . .

what we’re going to wear for our family pictures in Phoenix!  This will be the first time I’ve been able to get a family picture with EVERYONE there, so there will be no backing out.  LOL   Be there or be square, so they say.  haha

As much as I’d like to get a professional photographer to do it, I just don’t know any in Phoenix and I think that we have several cameras that can do a dang awesome job, so I’m thinking we should find a good spot, set up the tripod and timer, and give it a go ourselves.  While it may not be an easy job, we have the flexibility of taking as many shots as we want and getting as many prints made as we want without having to shell out a fortune.

I’ve seen lots of family pictures where everyone is wearing the same color, and those look nice, but I saw one awhile back where each ‘family’ had their own color and that was good, too.  Would it be asking too much to see if we can come up with both possibilities so we can decide then what works best?  We can have everyone wear jeans, khakis, or black slacks to make it cohesive.

So . . . will you look through your closets and see if you have a particular color that we can all come up with . . . perhaps black shirts?  or maybe burgundy . . . and preferably without any imbellishments.  If we find only one or two people don’t have a color that everyone else has, we have some time to do a little shopping between now and then, even when we get to Phoenix, if necessary.

Please tell me you’re agreeable with this idea . . . or, if not, what YOUR ideas are.

Love and kisses forever,
Mom

Election 2008

This is totally amazing, and I agree with it.  Here’s something we should all see:

Hotel Reservations!

Our reservations have been made and confirmed for this hotel from the 22nd until the 1st.  :)   It is just off I-17 at the Peoria Exit, so a quick drive from Alissa’s.  Woohoo!

Fun Website

A friend shared this blog with me . . . it’s hilarious!  http://www.passiveaggressivenotes.com/

I bet I could come up with some good ones myself, if I just watched for them.  I’m going to start doing that now.  LOL

Changes at home

I told Amy I’d post a picture of the new kitchen lights (which Dad and I both like, by the way).  I’d forgotten how much I liked having a light that covered the entire area, not just the kitchen.  They’re awesome!

New Lights

New Lights

Now I need to figure out what to do with the old ones.  Also, I’m not sure if I’ve ever posted pictures of the remodeling we did in your bedroom, Amy, so here’s a couple of shots so you can see how pretty it is.  It’s like a motel room!

I love these pretty curtains

Do you like it?

Hi-ho, the dairy-o

Almost done!

Almost done!

And here’s some new pictures!  They came yesterday and started putting up the fence.  They didn’t finish, but they have a good start on it.  We thought they’d be showing up this morning to finish it, but we haven’t seen anyone yet.

Just needs a gate and it's done!

Just needs a gate

My poor lilacs . . .

My poor lilacs . . .

The people who took out the trees trashed them.  :( *sigh* But they’ll grow back.

I’ll post more when it’s all done.  :)

A-Fencing We Will Go . . .

As part of the improvements we’ve been making to our home in case we should have to sell it, Dad decided we’d better put up a fence.  We got the bids, etc. etc. etc., and Epic Fence and Ironworks is here this morning starting to put it up.  I even took a picture so you can see it!

I’m afraid Dad isn’t happy with me right now . . . they had originally planned to put the fence halfway in front of the left side of the garage because of the cement from the old fence post, but I absolutely hated that, so he had to go digging and get the old cement out so it can be done right.  I think he’ll be glad about it later, but right now he’s about as close to pitching a fit as he’s ever been.  *sigh*  I’m really sorry, Kirk!  I just couldn’t live with it the other way.

I’ll try to keep you updated as it progresses.  :)   We get posts today and they put up the actual fence next Friday.

Love you all,

Mom

Dedicated to my Beautiful Girls

Lyrics
“Freckles” by Natasha B.

I used to care so much about what others think about
Almost didn’t have a thought of my own
The slightest remark would make me embark
On the journey of self doubt
But that was a while ago
This girl has got stronger
If I knew then what I know now
I would have told myself don’t worry any longer its okay

Cuz a face without freckles is like a sky without stars
Why waste a second not loving who you are
Those little imperfections make you beautiful, lovable, valuable,
They show your personality inside your heart
Reflecting who you are

Who you are
Who you are
Who you are

I wondered if I could trade my body with somebody else in magazines
With the whole world full at my feet
I phantom worthy and would blame my failures on the ugliness I could see
When the mirror looked at me
Sometimes I feel like the little girl who doesn’t belong in her own world
But im getting better
And im reminding myself

Cuz a face without freckles is a sky without stars
Why waste a second not loving who you are
Those little imperfections make you beautiful, lovable, valuable,
They show your personality inside your heart
Reflecting who you are

Reflecting who you are
Reflecting who you are
Hmmm
Whoooooo whoa hmmmm oooooo

Cuz a face without freckles is a sky without stars
Why waste a second not loving who you are
Those little imperfections make you beautiful, lovable, valuable,
They show your personality inside your heart
Reflecting who you are

Happiness Commandments

I came across a blog recently that has me fascinated.  It’s written by Gretchen Rubin, a lawyer turned writer.  I’ve found her posts very thought provoking . . . this one in particular . . . http://www.happiness-project.com/happiness_project/2008/07/six-tips-for-de.html . . . has had me thinking about what I want in my life, too.

She says the ‘commandments’ aren’t about making TO DO lists, but more a general life law.  I’m going to come up with some of my own, although it may take me awhile!

Here’s a start to my list:

1.  Time wounds all heels.  (What goes around comes around.)  Act your Karma.

2.  Nothing has meaning unless it’s done in love.

3.  Money is but a tool.

4.  Use what you have, it may not be any good tomorrow.

5.  You can never go wrong when you’re kind.

6.  Love and respect yourself.  Accept and BE Susanne.

7.  People are not to be afraid of, we’re much the same inside.

8.  Deal with life one crisis at a time.

9.  . . .

Tell me your ideas!

Love, XOXOXOX
Mom
