Film Fest 2008

There have been many discussions about what films we would watch during our visit. Alissa had the excellent plan of getting one or two movies from each of us from our childhoods and one or two from adulthood. She’s going to do her best to get them if we don’t have a copy.

Childhood films suggested so far:

  • Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealer
  • The Last Unicorn

Adulthood films suggested so far:

  • Jerry Springer The Opera
  • The Bourne Trilogy
  • MirrorMask [suitable for children too - faery tale-esque]
  • A Christmas Story

Dad said one that I can’t remember the title of – Car Boot or something?

The other half of this was going to be me and Dad listing some of the things we have that you all might want to see:

  • All five the Depeche Mode DVDs
  • Faithless live at Alexander Palace
  • Ocean’s Trilogy
  • Eddie Izzard shows – I have five
  • The Brave Little Toaster
  • The Gnome Mobile
  • Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
  • Escape to Witch Mountain
  • The Poseidon Adventure
  • Heathers

We have ten days with Mom, Dad & Becki – so I think we should limit this to something like 18-20. Everyone gets at least two films then and two films a day seems realistic so we won’t miss out on anything.

Please edit this page to add your own titles and suggestions!

I want to bring “Better Off Dead” and “Redline”. I think someone mentioned all three Bournes’, Ghost Rider, Island, Mavric, and SoapDish.

I have The Last Unicorn on DVD… so I’ll bring it. And Lissa asked me to bring Fast and the Furious – so I’ll bring that too. And anything else that tickles my fancy. :)

I’ve even thought of a couple . . . “The Worst Witch” and “Hobson’s Choice.” Not sure if you remember the last one and I’m not sure I can find The Worst Witch . . . I looked for it for a minute today and it doesn’t seem to be where I thought it was . . . but I’ll keep looking. :)

    Oh! And “Stardust,” of course.

Whew! I’ve been looking at the list, and so far the only ones I can’t find are:
“Clash of the Titans” with Harry Hamlin, “Top Secret” with Val Kilmer, “Jerry Springer: The Opera” (Amy – do you own this one?), “The Incredible Shrinking Woman” with Lily Tomlin, and “Hobson’s Choice”.
The ones I have tracked down are:
“Jungle Book” – the live action version
“Pippi Longstocking” – live action again
    “Top Gun”
    “Pump Up the Volume”
    “Starman”
    “Weird Science”
“Mighty Mouse” – only one cartoon…tough to find! :)
    “Innerspace”
    “Heathers”
    “The Worst Witch”
“The Wizard of Oz” – 2nd one with Fairuza Balk
    “Harry and the Hendersons”
    “The Electric Grandmother”
    “Gremlins”
    “The Last Unicorn”
“The Never Ending Story I & II”
    “The Adventures of Mark Twain”
    “Goonies”
    “Short Circuit”
    “The Secret of NIMH”
    “The Dark Crystal”
    “The Great Mouse Detective”
    “The Rescuers”
    “All of Me”
    “Unico”
    “Superstar”
    “Stardust”
    “Juno”
Man that’s quite a list! I hope I have mostly everything everyone wanted! This’ll be a blast! Love you all!

Do you have all on DVD? If not I can provide the following:
    Jerry Springer: The Opera
    Top Gun
    Heathers
The Never Ending Story I & II
    The Rescuers
    Juno
    Stardust

You are so good Alissa! I admire your persistence in getting everything together!

Definately bring Jerry Springer: The Opera, Heather, Top Gun and Stardust. Everything else I have on DVD, except a few that are only available on VHS (Not re-released yet).

Thanks for all the suggestions! I plan on wearing loose pants for sitting and eating and talking for days! :)
