Thanksgiving 2008

I started my own list of things I wanted to do, get and eat in the US. I know you all have things you want to do while we’re there too so I thought this would be the ideal place to collect everything together. Edit this page from the Manage -> Pages tab.

Eat:

  • Cube steak
  • Tator tots
  • at IHOP
  • at Macayo’s for big family dinner as Christmas present – kids with babysitter

  • Crisp Meat & Crisp Bean burritos from Fiesta Ole – for Amy & Alissa
  • Wii
  • Dad’s Taco sauce

I am to bring:

This sounds like fun. I am very happy to bring our assigned stuff.

So I’ve been thinking that not only should we do the birthday thing, but maybe a Merry Thanksgiving instead of a Merry Christmas? We’d have to shop earlier, but then we could all see each other open our gifts….

    Just an idea. :)

Our grapevine system of communication has failed!

I decided what I’d like for Christmas is to have a nice long dinner somewhere while the kids had a sitter. Then we could get up to all kinds of hijinks. So I thought that everyone could pay for themselves and those two or three hours would be the present.

So we could add a white elephant type thing to that to make it more Christmas-y? And silly hats always help.

I love the idea of a white elephant exchange at the dinner. Great suggestion to bring gifts Becki! It’s nice to have us all together, we should take advantage of it. :)

Oh, and I want to find silly hats…I’ve made a ‘Skullet’ for Dad out of my hair that I had cut a few months ago. It makes me laugh when I look at it. :P

I guess I need some clarification here about Merry Thanksgiving . . . do you want to bring gifts for each other to open as a ‘family’ Christmas in November? And are we going to go out together (sans kids) as a Christmas gift to each other or as Amy & Kara’s gift to each of us?

    I’m so confused!!!!!

Since Amy and Kara are leaving Thursday, as in day after tomorrow!!!, I think we ought to get this clarified! LOL

The only thing I knew about the Merry Thanksgiving was what you told me last Friday.

As far as I knew the Christmas dinner was for everyone to pay for themselves and the time together was the present. We were also going to do a White Elephant exchange.

We’re having a group birthday party and buffet, we could incorporate Christmas into that since it is Jesus’ birthday too.

I’ve become very cynical about objects lately. So I’d value our time together a lot more than a book or CD that I could very easily buy myself any time I wanted.

I’m easy though, I’ll participate with whatever fun thing comes my way.
